Romanticizing Christmas ...
It is cozy and warm in the houses and Christmassy bustle on the streets. You’re listening to Christmas music and stuff your body full with grandmas’ Christmas cookies. You stroll through several Christmas markets, drink some punches until the apple strudel punch kicks in.
Joke aside, what I want to say is that Christmas is always a wonderful time full of lights and joy. And especially one city screams for an exaggerated Christmas spirit: Vienna! Kitsch at its finest haha! For all Grinches who read this it’s better to move on to another post, for example read about my Barcelona trip our idk … but for those who love getting the full package of Vienna Christmas spirit, enjoy, my Christmas romanticizer!
VIENNA'S MOST FAMOUS CHRISTMAS MARKETS
There are many different Christmas markets you can find in Vienna. Some are even small and hidden, but most of them are very big, full of lights. The biggest Christmas market in Vienna is definitely at Rathausplatz. It is every year full of tourists, but it's really worth seeing. The Christmas market at Rathausplatz is an awesome attraction for kids and adult and a must to see. But if you want it more relaxing you can also go to the Christmas markets at Karlsplatz, Schönbrunn or Spittelberg. They are also very worth seeing and each one is unique. Perfect for looking for unique Christmas presents, enjoying really good food and punch and getting into Christmas mood. PS. it is possible to go ice skating at Rathausplatz, there is a huge ice skating area every year… perfect date idea if you ask me;)
CHRISTMAS SHOPPING IN THE MARIAHILFERSTRASSE
Shopping is part of the Christmas time and often very stressed. Exhausting, but we all have to do it. The perfect street for your Christmas shopping trip in Vienna, where you can get everything is the Mariahilferstraße. It is the ultimate shopping street in Vienna. But you will need good nerves not to sink in the hustle of the shopping bustle.
STEPHANSPLATZ VIEWS
The famous Stephansplatz in Vienna is also in the Christmas time grandiose and an attraction. Next to the big church called "Stephansdom" is every year a giant Christmas tree. The mood at this place is very festive and lights are everywhere.
CHRISTMAS LIGHTINGS ALL OVER THE STREETS
One thing that I also love at Christmas that the streets are full of lightings and at night it looks like you are in a fairy tale. The most unique Christmas lighting is at "Rotenturmstraße". There hang big, red lit balls all over the street. It looks completely fantastic.
Thanks' for reading my Vienna during Christmas time post and have a wonderful advent time and a merry Christmas.
Love Anna
